Hey man i wanted to know does it explain everything in the cd on how often you should do it, the diet, and everything … Man i’m not using this thing but i go to gym almost everyday , but i sometimes eat some stuff that are not good and i’m stuck with my lower ab … It never develops does it help in the cd ???

  • Josh (author) said:

Yeah, everything is explained when you receive the program, just as long as you got it from this site or the Beachbody site. Some other sites don’t sell the complete package, which is very important if you want excellent results.

    Hi,
First off you look awesome in your videos! My question is that I will be doing P90x in a few months and I dont really want to get extremly lean. Basically,I would rather bulk and I noticed in your video that you gained 15 lbs. of muscle and I was wondering what you changed to achieve this (diet, supplements, etc.)

  • Nicholas said:

Hey just wanted to say thanks to your videos you inspired me to do p90x i just started about 4 days ago and im about the same size as u were when you started it. im not trying to gain bulkiness because i already have pretty big shoulders and chest. Do you have any suggestions to help me lose weight and become more toned and not become more bulky. also which did you weekly routine did u fallow classic, doubles, or lean.

    thank you

  • Josh (author) said:

The best advice that I can give you is to commit to the diet and the weight will come off. Make sure you check out the “Q&A” and “My Diet” sections in this site. Also, I followed the Classic for the first two months and then switched to Doubles for the last month.

  • Jeffrey said:

Hey I was thinking of purchasing the p90x but my goal is not to get huge because I’m not really the tallest guy so it won’t look right on me. Pretty much what I want to achieve is to get ripped. Do you think P90x can do that for me? and how much should the dumb bells be when I first start? 20 lbs?

  • Josh (author) said:

Yeah, if followed correctly P90X will get you ripped. You have to make sure you commit yourself to both the diet and workouts. Also, it’s tough to say the exact weight of dumbbells that you should use because I don’t know you, but if you’re looking to gain mass, 8-10 reps is best.

  • Robert N said:

Just got the program in the mail last week. My wife and I just finished day 5, legs and back and Ab Ripper X. I just don’t know why I never tried this before. The workouts are fun, Tony encourages you without being a bossy “Drill Instructor”. I know that it is only day 5, but I swear that I feel stronger. We cut out the endless shows that we were watching and do our workouts in Primetime. I really don’t feel like I am missing anything. And I was a serious TV and Movie addict.

Josh, it was your transformation story that made me do it. I am a 19 year veteran of the US Navy and I am getting ready to retire. I am going to be in better shape then when I joined.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!! You Rock.

    Rob N

  • Josh (author) said:

Awesome man! I’m glad that my story is what helped you make the commitment to the program. Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Ram said:

hey i was wondering, should I use creatine (muscletech celltech hardcore) if i want to build lean muscle without increasing my bodyfat? i am currently on my fourth week of p90x, and I feel that if I start on creatine I will be able to maximize my results. thanks

  • Josh (author) said:

Creatine is one of the best supplements that you can take, and one that I highly recommend. I’m taking creatine monohydrate right now and losing body fat, and still gaining some mass.

  • Steve said:

Just wondering how long is a workout takes. Thanks

  • Josh (author) said:

The average is about an hour long.

  • aamir said:

will the ab ripper x help get rid of hip fat?

  • Josh (author) said:

Ab Ripper X will help build your ab muscles, but alone won’t help you get rid of fat. You need to follow the proper diet and complete all the workouts as well.

Hey Josh, i just finished day 4 yoga and that was way harder than i thought but i got through it. I have a new found respect for yoga fitness. My question though is my whole body hurts and that’s to be expected, but my tricepts are painfully hurting. I did try to do all that i could on day one with the push ups and pull ups, maybe i over did it, but ever since, i literally can’t bend my arms all the way. Is that just because you don’t really ever use your tri’s when your not working out regularly? Did you experience any like that? Im hoping this will subside, i just couldn’t do some of the yoga stuff because my tri’s are still killing me. The diet is surprising easy to follow though, i’m not starving either thanks for the tips. Hope to hear back from you.

  • Josh (author) said:

There are a ton of benefits of Yoga, including increased core strength, balance, and flexibility. Haha and the soreness is very normal, and will take a while to decrease. Let me know if you have other questions.

  • Jason W said:

    Hi Josh,

You mentioned: “To gain mass, a fat/carb/protein % of 20/50/30 would be the best, or even 20/55/25 would work. Also, make sure you’re taking in a ton of calories” So, predominately Carbs eh? That’s very exciting as I’m currently in Fat Shredder now and I dream of toast! You didn’t find that the excess carbs screwed with your bodyfat %?
2nd question: when you finished your first round did you take a break or did you immediately start into your 2nd round the next day?

  • Josh (author) said:

Taking in a lot of complex carbs throughout the day is very important if you’re looking to gain mass only. If you have a lot of fat to lose, I don’t recommend doing this, and it will be important that you follow the Nutrition Guide. Also, I took about a 3 day break when I finished my first round and jumped into the second.

  • John said:

Josh I think it’s great all that your doing and your a huge motivation to me . I just started the p90x program on saterday and it’s going great but currently I’m 166lbs and 6′4″ pretty skinny for my height should I still follow the p90 diet or should I change it up to gain mass while gaining muscle at the same time?

  • Josh (author) said:

Thanks! If you don’t want to lose any weight or body fat, then you can make adjustments to gain mass, which includes increasing the calories and carbs. If you have body fat to lose, then stick with the Nutrition Guide until you reach your target body fat %.

  • Biff said:

Are you doing weight training as well? or just P90X?

  • Josh (author) said:

I’m currently doing P90X, but will be adding in some heavy weight training soon.

  • Dean said:

    hey josh.
    im 17 from australia i weigh 85/86 kilos(bout 188pounds) and i’m 6′1…
im still currently in high school and i was thinking in investing in this fitness program to get fit and hopefully ripped. i have a fair bit of fat on my hips…will i have to do extra / do you recommend i do some running and lose that, or will P90X sort that out for me in the first stages?
im keen to try the program, but 200 australian is a fair bit of money….
im going to save my pay for the next couple of weeks and then get it i think but i was just wondering if it is worth it and all… also is the chin up bar any good? i was thinking of just getting a metal bar and bolting it to my garage roof instead to save on the cash…
anyway… it seemed to work well for you, so hopefully it will for me.

  • Josh (author) said:

Hey man! I actually recommend just following the program how it’s set up, doing nothing more, especially during the first round. P90X is by far the best program that I have used, and if followed properly will give you excellent results. The P90X Chin-Up Bar is excellent, and is what I use.

  • stephen said:

hey josh. i live in ireland a and cant really afford to be getting the protein delivered from america. could you reccomend another protein i could use

  • ted said:

I’m sixteen but not fully grown. is there any risk that serious weight lifting like p90x could stunt my growth?

  • Josh (author) said:

You should have whey protein at your local vitamin store.

  • Josh (author) said:

Weightlifting causing stunted growth is a complete myth.

  • stephen said:

hey josh im gonna be starting my p90x soon just got a few questions. i work night shifts sometimes. wat way should i eat. should i eat threw the night or just wait till i wake after my sleep. thanks for your help

    Hey Josh,
Thanks for responding back to my other post about the doubles thing. Today I did chest and back for my second week and honestly felt like i was killing it today until i realized i was deff overdoing it! I told myself i was going to reach 300 push up’s combined and go atleast 2 more reps on my pull-ups then i did last week i finished the first round and about half way through the 2nd round i found that i was seriously about to pass out right in front of everyone in the gym lol funny now but wasnt at the time! So I decided that today nowt that its 1 a.m. my time that im giong to go and purchase a heart rate monitor for when i workout so i dont over do it but am doing enough where im burning carbs and bringing it to the fullest of my body. The question is what is suppose to be a health heart beat rate while working out? I love to push it to the max but today i over did it. And i ended up finishing the rest of my push up sets an hour later because i couldnt just say thats good enough for today.

  • Thad said:

Hey man, I was just wondering if you follow the nutrition program absolutely, or if like once a month or something you have a bowl of ice cream or something? I am wanting to do the program with my wife as a way of getting healthy and I know if I told her that once every x number of weeks we could reward ourselves with a treat that she would be much more willing to jump on board. I want to commit fully and if this is a no no then I wont do it…..just wondering. Thanks!

  • Josh (author) said:

Since you work over the night, treat that as your day time, eating the proper meals at the right times. WHen you get a chance, also look into the Club Membership, which creates meal plans for you. Click here to learn more: http://www.iwanttogetripped.com/get-fit/club-membership/

  • Josh (author) said:

I try to keep my heart rate between 155-175 when working out. There are some times I spike above that, but it’s only for a short period of time.

  • Josh (author) said:

I followed it very strictly when first starting the program, but I might have a cheat meal once every month now. Diet is the most important part of the program. Also, look into the Club Membership, which will create specific meal plans for you, and is just a few bucks a week. There are many other benefits as well, and you can learn more by clicking on this link: http://www.iwanttogetripped.com/get-fit/club-membership/. Being a Club Member helped me tremendously when I first started the program! Doing so will make me your coach as well.

  • Marcos said:

    hey Josh
i have a question, I want to get muscles and lose fat. should I do classic and then switch to doubles? also, should I use dumbells or the resistance bands?

  • Josh (author) said:

Focus on the Classic version at first, and then switch to Doubles if you feel necessary. Dumbbells give you better results than the bands. Also, diet is the most important part of the program, and I highly recommend that you become a Club Member, which gives you trainer tips, recipes, and creates specific meal plans. • stephen said:

hey josh. just a few questions. can i not become a member cause i live in ireland. also in the nutrition guide for dinner it says 2 tbsp of protein does that mean have a drink or wat. also should i do each meal plan for 4 weeks. sorry for all the questions thanks

  • Ron said:

    Hi,
Congratulations on completing 1 year of P90x! I am on 3rd week of P90x and will be taking a 10 day break after phase 2. I am going to continue phase 3 after vacation. Is it going to affect the training schedule?

  • Josh (author) said:

Unfortunately, you can’t sign up for me to be your coach unless you’re from the US or Canada. I’m actually not too sure what you’re talking about with the protein. If you look on the back of each package, it will contain the protein in grams.

  • Josh (author) said:

Haha I’ve almost completed 2 years now. You are really going to want to eat as healthy as possible and work out some while on vacation, or you can quickly gain back the weight that you’ve lost. 1 week of bad eating can set you back a month.

  • stephen said:

heya josh. might be a stupid question but i gotta know. do you pick one level out of each phase to do for the whole progamme. also i use to use no xplode and it didnt really agree with me can you suggeest something else. cheers

  • Josh (author) said:

You are going to want to stick with the same level throughout the program. Also, I use Jacked, which is another pre-workout supplement. Make sure you always check with your doctor before using any supplements.

  • stephen said:

thanks alot for all your help. do you think beachbody will ever change so that people from other countrys could be coached by you. would really help

  • Josh (author) said:

I’m actually not too sure. Hopefully they will.

  • Richard said:

does the whey protein you take haave to follow the % daily in the nutrition plan?

  • Josh (author) said:

    Yeah, it does.

  • Jonn said:

    Josh,
Your pictures are very impressive and challenging!
    2 questions
1-Could you give me an estimate of the cost for the supplements and foods per day or per week you used?
The program says 1 hour per day.
2- Could you give more information on the time commitment? From eating or drinking a recommended food to doing the workout to cooling off to being cleaned up and getting out the door?
    Thank you for your time.
    Jonn

  • Josh (author) said:

Hey man! To answer your questions..

    (1) My fiance and I spend close to $250 per month for the two of us on food. Also, how much the supplements cost depends on the amount of supplements you get. You can find the supplements that I take and recommend in the “Q&A” section of this site.
    (2) The workouts average about an hour a day. In terms of the diet, you really don’t have to make that many adjustments to the amount of time it takes to prepare meals. You can find a ton of diet tips in the “Q&A” section as well.

    Josh, couple questions,

What is the best method to measure body fat % ?

Currently i am taking about 1.5g of Protien per my body weight, is there such thing as too much protien intake. I am on Phase I and making sure i stay with in the 20/30/50 ratio.

    thanks

  • Josh (author) said:

The best method is to get it professionally analyzed, but usually that’s tough to do, so just use body fat calipers. Even though they aren’t the most accurate, they will give you an idea. Also, just follow the Fat Shredder plan and you will be fine.

    Hey Josh,

I have something on my mind that I just can’t get off. Im eating 1800 to 2000 calories a day because I still need to lose about 15 pounds of fat. So since my calorie intake is low will doing reps of 8-10 not help me gain size since I’m not taking that many calories? Should I just stick to 10-12 until my fat is gone? How many reps did you do during your first round? Thank You!!

  • Josh (author) said:

If you want to gain mass, you will have to increase the cals and carbs. Stick with 12-15 for now, which is what I followed during my first round. Also, am I your coach? If not, click on the link: https://teambeachbody.com/signup/-/signup/free/11685

  • Ryan said:

    Josh,

You look great. Were you results all from P90X? My question, can I build muscle e and some bulk up while working out on P90X? I know I can get cut but how about building mass? Should I include some gym workouts at night to add to P90X?

    Ryan

  • Josh (author) said:

Yeah bro, all my results came from P90X! You can learn how I gained mass with P90X in the “Workouts” section of this site, as there are 2 posts about it.

  • Brad said:

maybe you can help me out I did p90x for the 3 months igot where I wanted with now Im going to the gym been going hard for 2 months im taking whey protein, creatine monohydrate one scoope before and after worke outs and taking amp mass xxx I weighed 173pds when I started p90x know I weigh 152 having a hard time getting some weight back on

  • Josh (author) said:

@Brad. You’re going to have to increase the cals if you want to put weight back on. I would say at least 3,000 cals per day if your goal is to ONLY gain mass.

  • Kevin said:

    Hey Josh!

Let me give you a little background of where I’m at before I share with you a recent problem I’ve been having.

Before my 90 days I was 175 pounds at 5ft7…at the end I was 140 pounds and the cuttest I’ve ever been in my life. Essentially, I ended feeling/looking as the best shape in my life.

Recently however, I’ve almost been getting a sort of panic attack or some anxiety when I push myself to high, intense levels of training. My heart rate is some where around 140 beats per minute at my most intense. I guess my question to you is: 1. is this too high? and 2. have you ever experienced these anxiety attacks, almost like you can’t breath?

I never got them during my 90 days, but do now…

    Thanks Josh

  • Josh (author) said:

@Kevin. 140 is actually not that high. My average heart rate for the P90X workouts is probably around 150-160. With Insanity, my average HR is more around 170. I would check with a doctor to see what’s going on.

Hey Josh, amazing work by the way

I am 185 lbs,i am 18,while doing P90x do i have to include running to lose fat or just the Cardio X is enough.

while doing p90x will i lose my current arm(bicep)size or will it get more big amd ripped.

    PS
You have become an inspiration for me to start doing p90x.not only me my brother and even my mother too

  • Josh (author) said:

@Jino. If you follow the program how it’s set up, then you will see results! Make sure you follow the Nutrition Guide that comes with it as well because diet plays a major role in your results.

  • Josh (author) said:

@Jino. Yeah, if you push yourself you should make progress from week to week.

@Jino. You have to be from the US or Canada to make an account with Beachbody.

  • Jino said:

    hai josh,

what was your first pullup number ?

  • Josh (author) said:

    @Jino. I think I was able to get 4 wide grip pull-ups.

  • Jino said:

how many pullups can you do now ?

  • Josh (author) said:

@Jino. I can do about 25-28 reverse grips.

  • Jino said:

    hey josh

How can i do more pullups ?

    i cant even do one

  • Josh (author) said:

@Jino. You need to do the assisted versions with the chair to start off with. Tony Horton shows you how to do so in the DVD’s.

  • Jino said:

    hey josh,

how long will it take to do one pullup if i am starting off with a chair?

  • Josh (author) said:

@Jino. It all depends on how hard you push yourself.
