Supplements

*Before you ever use any supplements, it’s important that you check with your doctor first*

Q: What supplements do you take?

A: Supplements that I used and recommend are Shakeology, the P90X Whey Protein (chocolate), P90X Recovery Formula, glutamine, and Jack3d. I use Shakeology as a meal replacement for lunch and occasionally as a post workout recovery drink. Take the whey protein twice a day: once in the morning and right after you work out if you’re not taking the Recovery Formula. If you are, take the whey protein an hour after the workout. Take the Jack3d about 30 minutes before your workout, and take the Recovery Formula directly following the workout. I always mix one teaspoon of glutamine in with each protein shake.

Q: What is Shakeology?

A: Shakeology is probably the most popular supplement that Beachbody has to offer, and it acts as a meal replacement.  This is by far the best tasting and best overall supplement I’ve ever used, and one I highly recommend! You can learn more about Shakeology by clicking here.

Q: What is the Recovery Formula?

A: As you know, when you workout you are tearing your muscles. Immediately after you’re done with your training for the day, those muscles you used go into “recovery” mode and start rebuilding. In order to rebuild properly, they need protein and carbohydrates to carry that protein. They “feed” your muscles and allow them to make a better recovery and get stronger! It’s good to take this after both cardio and resistance workouts.

Q: Should I take the Recovery Formula after cardio workouts?

A: Yes, you should take the Recovery Formula after every intense workout! The only one I wouldn’t take it after is X Stretch.

Q: Should I take the Recovery Formula after I work out if it’s late at night?

A: Even if you work out late and go to bed shortly afterwards, you still need to take the Recovery Formula!

Q: What is whey protein?

A: Click here for more information on whey protein.

Q: Should I take creatine?

A: I have created a few blog posts about creatine: http://www.iwanttogetripped.com/2009/creatine/ and http://www.iwanttogetripped.com/2009/creatine-part-ii/

Q: What do you think about the P90X Protein Bars?

A: The P90X Protein Bars are by far my favorite that I have tried! They contain a lot of protein (18 grams), which helps with your protein requirements, as well as a good amount of carbohydrates (37 grams), which help you keep your energy level up throughout the day. There are 3 flavors: Cafe Mocha, Wildberry, and Chocolate Peanut Butter, and they are all excellent! I use them as snacks, as well as for pre and post-workout supplementation.

Q: Should I take Jack3d before every workout, or just the resistance workouts?

A: I always take it before every workout because it gives me more energy. It will help with your endurance during cardio workouts, and help you maximize your pumps during the resistance workouts.

Q: Will Jacked or NO-Explode affect my sleep?

A: Whether or not it affects your sleep patterns depends on how your body reacts to the supplement. I can’t take Jack3d any later than 3 in the afternoon or I won’t get to sleep that night. You need to assess your tolerance level.

Q: What supplements should I take to gain mass?

A: You can actually use all of the supplements that I listed above to gain mass. Remember, gaining mass has a lot to do with your diet and proper timing of supplements! You can learn more about the timing of supplements to gain mass by clicking here.

Do you take a whey protein shake and the recovery drink both after your workout, or just one?

  • david said:

Im in pretty good shape as it is and i just bought p90x. How many times a day should i drink a protein shake?

  • Josh (author) said:

Take the Recovery Formula directly after your workout and then the whey protein 45 minutes later.

  • Josh (author) said:

2-3 times per day: once in the morning and once after your workout being the most important. It’s also good to take casein protein right before bed.

  • Chris said:

    Hey Josh,

I am doing good in getting most of the food needed for my diet but I am not in the position to afford the Protein Bars, Recovery Drink and No Xplode. I am able to get the whey protein but that is it other than the food. Am I looking at a huge decrease in my results in the 90 days because I can not afford those suppliments? Is there any other options.

  • Josh (author) said:

Whey protein is the most important supplement to take. Make sure you read about when to take it in the “Q&A” section of this site.

  • Dan said:

Hey there Josh. I am getting ready to start P90X and have been amazed by you results. I am familiar with working out and have done some P90X at my school but never took it as seriously as i should have. I am also familiar with protein, but I want to try Creatine and was wondering if you recommend a certain brand.

  • Shaun said:

    Josh

You said that its good to take Casein protein prior to bed,
what would you recommend Casein Protein in the powder form
or whey protein mixed with skim milk?

I’m already on Nature’s Best Zero Carb Isolate for my Whey, should I also buy Casein
Powder Protein, or just simply mix my Isolate whey in some milk when I go to Bed?

  • Josh (author) said:

I just bought the Bodytech Creatine Monohydrate powder, and it seems to be a good brand.

  • Josh (author) said:

Casein powder is the best before bed. Take the whey protein during the day.

  • Brennan said:

I am starting P90X on Monday the 4th, and I was just wondering… Is there any substitute for the recovery formula, because I run tight on money… Could you please help me out!!!

  • gonzo said:

im thinking about starting the p90x…which of the excercises do u recommend to start?..or do i do 1 of each day?…do u recommend the casein powder before u got to bed when working out in the morning?…also..if u work out in the morning before breakfast do u take the whey with ur breakfast?…sorry for all the questions but i want to do this the right way …thnx

  • Brennan said:

One more thing… I know that you drink the whey recovery mix after your workout, but do you add glutamine with it in the same mix, pre-workout, or during your workout??? I am buying later today, so could you give me any recommendations of whey and glutamine under $45.00 each??? Thank you!

  • Josh (author) said:

The Recovery Formula is excellent because it contains everything you need for proper recovery.

  • Josh (author) said:

When you receive the program, you will get directions on how to follow the program. Also, casein protein is great to take before bed, and whey protein is great to take in the morning and after your workout. And yes, take whey with your breakfast in the morning after your workout.

  • Josh (author) said:

There are many great brands of whey protein under $45, and a glutamine tub is pretty cheap.

  • Brennan said:

    Thank you Josh!!!

  • Brennan said:

BTW, I hope my body will look as good as yours after my P90X rounds!!! You are going to be my inspiration to do this whole program!! Wish me luck 8-)

  • Josh (author) said:

Haha thanks man! Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • rodrigo said:

can i just take whey protein and still get great results

  • Josh (author) said:

Whey protein is the most important supplement to take, so if you commit yourself to the diet then yes.

  • rodrigo said:

what if your a little over weight should you still use supplements or just do p90x without any supplements

  • Josh (author) said:

Supplements help tremendously with your results, and I recommend whey protein and the Recovery Formula for everyone.

  • rodrigo said:

what the best whey protein brand

  • Josh (author) said:

I recommend the P90X whey protein.

  • willis said:

if i can not get the p90x supplements. can i get what i need at a local gnc? and what suppments should i get?

  • Josh (author) said:

The supplements that I recommend are in the “Q&A” section on this site.

  • Heath said:

Were can i get all of these things? Do i have to order it from a website?

  • Josh (author) said:

You can purchase most of these from this site.

  • rodrigo said:

hey josh i only have no explode ima still gonna get great results

  • rodrigo said:

or do i still need whey protein

  • Eric said:

do you recommend taking the p90x brand of protein and recovery formula because there are other brands that seem to be cheaper. What do you think?

  • Josh (author) said:

Is NO-EXplode OK for 14 y/o to take? You are going to need to read the label.

  • Josh (author) said:

Again, you need to read the labels to find out if it’s OK to take at your age.

  • Josh (author) said:

The Recovery Formula is the best post-workout supplement that I have come across. Also, they are other brands of whey, but the P90X brand is right up there with my favorites.

  • gonzo said:

hey josh..is there any supplements that u can take at nite that will help u when u work out as soon as u wake up?…im finding it hard to finish some workouts..i tried the whey at nite with my dinner but i dnt feel like its helping…ill take any suggestions…thnx…ZO

  • Josh (author) said:

You really don’t want to take anything late at night, because it will be out of your system by morning. However, casein protein is the only supplement that is good to take at night because it slowly releases protein into the system.

  • rodrigo said:

alrite ill be safe and see or if i cant . can i still get the great results with just the diet and workouts

  • Josh (author) said:

    Yeah, you can.

  • Val said:

you have to take jack3D every day before workout? Is that no too much? When I’ll start for the first time, somebody told me that I have to take in first week x20gr. creatine. How much jack3D I have to take?

  • Josh (author) said:

I take it before each workout. How many scoops you take depends on how your body reacts to it. For me, 2 scoops work. Also, it’s not like creatine where you need a loading phase.

  • jdk1190 said:

Simple update here.. Been doing this diet for a week and im starting the X on monday but have been using this diet with my gym routine. Running a mile and half before workout and then KILLING a body part each day and i was at 225 and now im sitting at 210 as of this morning. Funny thing is my strength hasnt suffered yet because of the mass protein intake and the carb’s to burn. Just want to give my thanks to you already josh awesome fat shredder diet and looking forward to the X on monday. Later

I want to know if GNC whey protien is a brand you would recomend or not? (have the whey protien and the amplified wheyabolic 60 also) Starting p90x on 2/1/2010.

  • Josh (author) said:

    It’s a pretty good brand.

  • Dave said:

    hey josh,
do u recommend taking a dietary supplement along with p90x or should i just stick to the diet? because i was thinking about taking a weight loss supplement along with the p90x but wasnt sure if it was really necessary.
    thanks,
    Dave

  • Josh (author) said:

I’m actually not a big fan of weight loss supplements like fat burners. If you stick with whey protein and the Recovery Formula and the proper diet, you will get results. Let me know if you have other questions man. Also, you can make me your coach by clicking on this link: https://teambeachbody.com/signup/-/signup/free/11685.

  • Luke said:

Hey Josh, I am a little overweight and I have a question about protein. I’m more concerned with weight loss in the first 30 days (started today lol), and I am a bit worried that taking a lot of protein. Would taking protein a couple times a day hurt my attempts to slim down first?

  • David said:

    Hey Josh,

Going to take your recommendations and get the Recovery formula and Whey protein. As far as the Creatine, should I get this right away or wait till I get further along in the program? (say 60 day mark or so)

Also, you use Bodytech Creatine, is that the same company that produces Celltech Creatine?

    Thanks!

  • Josh (author) said:

You shouldn’t worry about high protein, but rather high carbs. Follow the Nutrition Guide.

  • Josh (author) said:

Wait until you get further along in the program to start creatine. Also, I would appreciate it you would order the Recovery Formula from this site. Look into the Home Direct option, which has free shipping ang delivers it to your house each month.

  • james said:

Hey Josh, if i supplament Whey Protein (scoops of L-Glutamine), and N.O. Explode is that enough creatine to see some results? I weigh about 160 now and about 6′0 pretty athletic but not ripped neither as big as i would like to be. I was just wanting to make sure that cycling NO explode would be sufficient creatine amount for working out with P90x.

    thanks coach

    -james

  • Josh (author) said:

I used NOX when I first started the program and loved it, but now I taked Jack3d, which I feel is better. However, both NOX and Jack3d have a small amount of creatine in them. I still take 5g of creatine monohydrate per day.

  • james said:

Cool, what brand is that? Would something like cell mass work?

  • james said:

Hey man i am thinking about just taking basic Pro-lab creatine mono. I have been doing my research and just wanted to kinda get your opinion, if i just take pro-lab and whey protein, is 10g of the creatine too much?

I have heard just take 5g and others say 10g is good like a preworkout scoop and post workout scoop, just wanted to see what you thought.

    thanks coach

    -James

  • Josh (author) said:

Right now I’m using Body Tech Creatine Monohydrate.

  • Josh (author) said:

I started off for a week taking 10g (5g pre and 5g post workout), but now I’ve backed down to 5g per day.

  • james said:

    Cool. thanks

  • Tiffany said:

    hi josh

I just wanted to know if there is whey protein and bars that are comparable that i can buy at gnc. Instead of having to want for shipment.

  • Josh (author) said:

I actually don’t know of a very good protein bar at GNC.

  • Tim said:

hey Josh,i was curious about shakeology. each shake is a meal replacement correct? do you mix anything with the powder other than water, any fruit or anything? also, how do i fit these into my diet, for instance if i have one for breakfast instead of my meal, how do i know that i am getting everything i still need with my other snacks and meals?

i am looking into this because, i lost about 20-25 in the first 3-4 weeks but have not lost a single pound in the last 2 weeks, i’m a little discouraged because i am a big guy and definitely overweight, so i thought i would see more weight loss longer. i have had a couple cheat meals and drank just a couple times, but have been sticking with the diet pretty well i think, if anything not sure if sometimes i’m eating enough. honestly i could probably lose another 40-50 pounds. weird question, does turkey burger have more fat once it is cooked? i plugged 10oz of cooked turkey burger into fitday and it said it had 36 grams of fat. the whole package says it has 40. i’m wondering if i’m eating too much turkey burger, it has been working for me instead of other stuff.

  • Brad said:

going on my second month of p90 doing great and can tell a big difference.Im taking whey protein and pump fuel just woundering if there was anythang out there that would help me put on moore mass

  • Josh (author) said:

Yeah, most people use Shakeology as a meal replacement. However, I’ve used it as a recovery drink as well. I like to mix it with skim milk, a banana, and peanut butter. It has a perfect balance of protein and carbs, and also contains a ton of vitamins, so you will be getting everything you need for a proper meal. This is one supplement that I highly recommend!

Also, you should always go by what the package says with the foods, such as your turkey burger, and not what FitDay says. I have found that FitDay usually isn’t correct, and I will have to make the necessary adjustments to correct it.

Let me know if you have other questions!

  • Josh (author) said:

I recommend that you read the post called “Gain Mass With P90X” in the “Workouts” section.

  • Tim said:

thx Josh, i just ordered some shakeology. question though, i also ordered the slimming formula, i am ok to take both correct?

  • Josh (author) said:

Hey man! I just sent you an email. My email is pioneerballplayer28@yahoo.com. Let me know if you didn’t get it.

  • Dan said:

    Josh-
Do you recommend the strength muscle when starting out? Here’s what I was thinking after looking of the Q&A: Recovery Drink, Whey, P90X Peak Health Vitamins, meal bars. My goal is to end up gaining mass.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Dan said:

Also, what is the difference in Whey, they are confusing. I am seeing Whey powder, isolate etc and have no clue what the differences are. Is there one that you use and would recommend over the BB Whey? I don’t usually like the taste of those powders so would probably mix it in milk.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Josh (author) said:

The supplements that you have listed are the ones that I recommend! You’re on the right track! If you purchase any supplements from my site, I will automatically be assigned as your coach and help you through the program. Also, make sure you check out the post in the “Workouts” section called “Gain Mass With P90X.”

  • Josh (author) said:

Whey protein isolate is good because it’s stripped of most the fat. The BB Whey tastes very good as well.

  • Tanner said:

    Josh,

A quick question about Jack3d. I am in week 2 of P90x and am debating whether to start using the supplement or not.

Will the creatine in Jack3d have adverse effects on weight loss? My main goal right now is to become as lean and burn as much fat as possible before trying to gain mass.

Any insight or advice is greatly appreciated.

    Tanner

  • Dan said:

Thanks Josh. I did purchase the Recovery, Vitamins, and meal bars from your site.

Is it important to have the BB Strength Muscle from the start?

Is the BB Whey a protein isolate?

Thanks Josh! I am “pumped” hehe that your my coach!

  • Josh (author) said:

I don’t think the creatine will have an effect on weight loss at all. It’s a very small amount anyways.

  • Josh (author) said:

Thanks man! The Strength & Muscle Formula isn’t necessary. Also, I think BB whey has a mix of concentrate and isolate, but I’m not too sure about that. I will have to check it out.

  • Brad said:

Do you recommend useing anykind of testosterone booster some guys at work where talking about some stuff called t-bomb whats your idea on this.

  • Josh (author) said:

I’m not a big fan of those at all, and don’t think they’re necessary. Some buddies of mine use them, and I don’t think they get any extra results.

  • Adrian said:

hey josh.. what can you recommend for me a kind of supplement.. since the supplement of p90x is not availble here.. i am 21% body fat now.. from 24.52 last month.. im almost done at my 1 phase. just few days more..

  • Josh (author) said:

I’m confused as to what you’re asking me.

  • Brian said:

Hey Josh I just got the BB pure creatine and I was just wondering how long before my workout I should take it?

  • Adrian said:

sorry dude.. what supplement that you can recommend for me.. since the p90x recovery formula is not available at my country.. thanks.. i wanna speed up losing fat and gain muscle fast.. thanks..

  • Josh (author) said:

It should have the directions on the bottle, but I usually take the creatine about 30 minutes pre workout with 8 oz. of natural non-acidic fruit juice like apple or grape juice.

  • Josh (author) said:

I’m actually not too sure what you have available over there, and you will have to find a supplement similar to the Recovery Formula.

  • Will said:

    Hey Josh,
Can i just take whey protein after my workouts and get good results or do i need the recovery formula also

  • Josh (author) said:

The Recovery Formula is important to take right after the workout.

  • Carlos said:

Hey man! What’s your oppinion on Muscletech Celltech, Nitrotech and naNo Vapor?

I’ve been taking them for some time now. But I read some reviews about possible side efects and I’m concerned about it.

  • Josh (author) said:

I take Beachbody supplements, so I don’t know about those.

  • kevin said:

what fluid do you mix your casein protein powder with, water or milk?

  • Josh (author) said:

    Milk or water.

  • newkid said:

Hi Josh – Great job! You are a true inspiration!

I am having trouble boosting my food intake. I had some digestion troubles in the past. Do you know of / suggest any digestive supplements that will help me eat more and digest better?

  • Josh (author) said:

I know a great supplement that will work for you, and that’s Shakeology! You can learn more about it from this link: http://www.shakeology.com/spence8. I use it as a meal replacement. Let me know if you have any questions about it!

  • newkid said:

Thanks Josh. I am definitely thinking about Shakeology. I am equally keen to boost intake of other food items. Generally i ear less and if I try pushing myself, I end up getting digestion issues. How would Shakeology help solve that problem? Would there be digestive supplements to address that problem?

  • Micki said:

    Hey Josh,
I’m only 17 and in high school. I am in track right now, and lift after wards and I am taking NO-Xplode at the recommended 45 mins before a workout and Im looking to buy whey protein. My question is.. What do you think of school lunches? Or should I be packing my own lunches. I am in pretty good shape.. just looking to get a better looking body.

  • Josh (author) said:

There are many digestive enzymes in Shakeology. You can learn more about what’s all in it at http://www.shakeology.com/spence8.

  • Josh (author) said:

I think that most school lunches are terrible and unhealthy. It would be better for you to pack your lunch every day so you know what you’re putting into your body.

  • Rudy said:

What supplements did you use in your first round of p90x?

  • Josh (author) said:

You can find a list of supplements I take in the “Q&A” section of this site.

im starting p90x tomorrow.. im going to take the recovery drink and whey protein after my workout, im also going to take creatine, should i take the creatine before the workout? because i feel that im going to take too many supplements after the work out.. thanks

  • Josh (author) said:

If you’re going to take creatine, take 2.5g pre workout and 2.5g post workout. Make sure you take it with 8 oz. of natural non-acidic fruit juice each time. However, understand that it’s not necessary to take creatine.

  • carlos A. said:

hey man, should i take supplements on rest days? i take creatine, recovery drink, whey protein and glutamine.

  • Josh (author) said:

No need to take supplements on rest days.

  • Carlos A. said:

hey josh u told me to take the creatine with 8 oz of natural fruit juice but i cant seem to find a 100% natural fruit juice. do you make it yourself from fresh fruit or do you buy it from the grocery store. the only juice i can find says 100% grape/apple juice.. thanks

  • Josh (author) said:

You can buy 100% natural fruit juice at the store. It’s not actually called “100% natural fruit juice,” but rather 100% natural apple juice, grape juice, etc.

  • Justin said:

Hey Josh i was wondering. I would really like to try Shakeology but im not trying to lose weight. I have lost 25 lbs in the first two months of round one and i want to start gaining mass. Is shakeology gonna prevent gaining mass? thnx alot and keep up the good work.

  • Josh (author) said:

You can still gain mass while using Shakeology, but you will need to make sure you’re taking in enough calories throughout the day. Because Shakeology is a low cal meal replacement, you will need to add some things to jack up the cals, like a banana and peanut butter. Let me know if you decide to get it.

  • Ryan said:

Coach, this may have been answered before but right after a workout session, how long should we wait to take whey protein?

  • Josh (author) said:

If you’re taking the Recovery Formula, wait an hour to take your Whey Protein.

  • Ryan said:

What if you don’t have the recovery formula, Coach?

  • john said:

  • Josh (author) said:

Then you need to get it!

  • Brett said:

    Josh

How come the recovery drink recommends 2 scoops for everyone, and does not vary on the size of the human being taking the drink?

I love Beachbody but I wonder if I’m taking too much of the recovery drink and stunting my progress just a little bit. I mean Im 150 lbs….so how can my recommended serving be the same as someone who is 250 lbs?

    Thanks

  • Josh (author) said:

Brett, the Recovery Formula is not going to slow your results, but rather continue to help them. Beachbody recommends two scoops for a reason!

  • Josh (author) said:

Those supplements are going to help with your results.

  • Hamza said:

Do i need to do all P90x exercises. I want to work on Arms, Shoulders, Chest, Back and ABS. How many days a week should i workout and which exercise should i do on what day? Im 17, 5ft7 and don’t know how much i weight but lets say 8.5 stones.

  • Mustafa said:

Do you think Muscle Milk will give the same results as some of the other protien supplements? If yes, should I drink one every day before my workout or after I am done with my workout.

  • Hamza said:

I might consider buying P90x Whey Protein and Recovery Formula. I don’t often get time to eat, I sometimes end up eating fastfood, so can I replace my meal by taking Shakeology instead?

  • Josh (author) said:

Yes! You can use Shakeology as a meal replacement every day, which is what I do and recommend! As you have probably already seen, Shakeology is the best supplement that I use!

  • Josh (author) said:

I recommend whey protein over muscle milk.

  • Josh (author) said:

You need to follow the program how it’s set up.

  • hector said:

I’ve been taken Jack 3d for three months and the effects seem to be fading. I dont get the energy i use to get from using it. Should i move on the another product if so which one would you recommened.

I’m in the process of trying different pre workout supplements now.

  • Evan said:

ive been taking whey protein before bed every night even on cardio days, should i stop? im trying to loose body fat by the way.

  • Josh (author) said:

If you’re going to take protein before bed, it needs to be casein, not whey. Whey is digested too quickly to take before bed.

  • Jay said:

    Hey Josh!

    Quick question.

I took your advice and got the recovery drink as well as the shakeology despite being a little strapped on a cash. Because of this I will intermix how I use them.

I use the shakeology following by intense cardio training (plyo/kenpo) and recovery drink following the resistance workouts.

    Good plan?

    Thanks

    Jay

  • Josh (author) said:

The best way to use Shakeology is as a meal replacement, which justifies the cost. Use the Recovery Formula after each workout.

  • mike said:

  • Josh (author) said:

I’m not familiar with that creatine, so you will have to follow the directions that are on the package.

  • Josh (author) said:

You are going to need a recovery drink to take post workout, and for that I recommend the Recovery Formula.

Hey, great site, was wondering you opinion of soy protien, b/c i see the first ingredient of the types of protiens listed in the protien bars is soy protien, and i hear a lot of suspect things about soy protien – the main one being that it increases estrogen levels!, and also, i see in the p90x nutritin guide, it has the recovery drink and a protein bar listed as one of the daily meals in the meal plans section, – do you think that i should also wait to take the protein bar, – i mean, have the recovery drink post workout and like ya said, wait about 40 min or so to have any other nutrition er protein bar. thnx

  • Josh (author) said:

Thanks man! OK, I’ve also heard that soy protein increases estrogen levels, but I don’t think it’s going to effect you unless you take in huge quantities of it. Also, just follow the Nutrition Guide and take those as snacks when they are listed to be taken!

Andrew, supplements play an important role in your transformation and will help you get results, so you need to start on Day 1! I started off with the P90X Whey Protein and P90X Recovery Formula. Take the whey in the morning and an hour after your workout, and take the RF directly after your workout.

  • Andrew said:

alright thanks man and when i take the whey protein in the morning, do i have to wait to start my workout or i can just take the whey protein then right after do my workout then take the RF?

    hey josh
just wondering if you knew anything on gnc force factor… I know you don’t recommend it since you don’t use it, but just wanted to know if you knew anyhing about it, and could I use it while doing p90x.

    thanks

  • Josh (author) said:

    Never tried it bro.

  • Josh (author) said:

@Andrew. I recommend taking the whey after the workout, not before.

  • Jay said:

Do Whey protein have side effects? i mean like you can have acne and pimples when you take it.

  • Josh (author) said:

@Jay. I’ve never had any side effects from taking it, but you should always read the label and talk with your doctor before beginning any supplement.

    Hey Josh,

so i went ahead and got the p90x. i still dont know what the meal plans are for p90x but im going to try and eat frequent meals and supplements like creatine monohydrate, whey protein, and the recovery formula. Since im skinny and want to gain mass, do you recommend me to get shakeology?

  • Josh (author) said:

@Juan. Did you order the program from this site? And yes, Shakeology is an excellent supplement for everyone, whether you’re looking to lose weight or gain mass!

  • Juan said:

no i did not purchase p90x from this site although i did add you as my coach. im going to order the supplements one at a time since i don’t have enough money but i do have half a tub of cytogainer which has 100% whey protein. do you think that supplement would do for now till i get the one’s i want?

  • Ashh said:

Hey Josh! first off, thank you! you’ve been a huge help thus far! Ok, so I’m almost done with phase 1 of P90x and i’ve seen pretty good results, but I’m still a bit… “chunky” I was wondering if there are any supplements you recommend for speeding up fat loss and leaning out rather than bulking. any suggestions?

  • Josh (author) said:

@Ashh. Hey! Have you looked into Shakeology yet? My fiance Melinda has been using it as a meal replacement and lost a lot of body fat and weight in just the first month! You can check out her review of the product on her site http://www.iwanttogettoned.com. I’ve been using it every day as well, and have seen great results. Anyways, check it out at http://myshakeology.com/spence8. Let me know if you have any questions!

Have you made me your coach yet? If not, you can do so by clicking on this link: https://teambeachbody.com/signup/-/signup/free/11685

  • Josh (author) said:

@Juan. I’ve never tried cytogainer and don’t know much about it.

  • Alexis said:

Will you get the same results if you do P90x without the supplements ?

  • Josh (author) said:

@Alexis. The supplements help tremendously with your results!

  • JR said:

    Josh,

Hey brother, I just started P90X 2 days ago and am sore all over. My problem is that I can’t afford everything required in the program. From keeping up with the diet to the supplements and recovery formula. I can only afford whey protein and eat salads, fish and chicken and I’ve cut out all soft drinks.

Although probably farfetched, but what do you advise me to do to come close to the same results as you?

Also, did you do anything extra like heavy weight lifting or extra cardio along the P90X workouts? Much obliged.

  • Josh (author) said:

@JR. You just need to follow the program how it’s designed bro if you want great results. Is it an investment and time commitment? Of course, but it’s well worth it. Also, no, I didn’t add in any extra lifting during my first round of the program.

    Hi Josh..
I am about to start the Insanity program, but I live in Mexico and we don’t have any recovery formula. What supplements do you recommend from GNC so I can get through the program and how am I supposed to take them (time and dosis)?

    Thanks in advance..

  • Josh (author) said:

@JO_R. I actually don’t know of a good substitute for the Recovery Formula.

  • JO_R said:

    Hi again Josh..
How should I prepare the protein shake that i’m supossed to take 40 minutes after my workout? Should I mix 1/2 banana, strawberries, milk, whey protein, etc? Or just whey protein with water?

    Thanks again..

  • Josh (author) said:

@JO_R. I just shake the whey with fat free milk.

  • S_F said:

is pro complex gainer a good supplement for p90x? it has 60g protein

  • Josh (author) said:

@S_F. I’ve never heard of it.
