Brian’s Insanity Results Story
“My name is Brian Fieger, I’m 30 years old and I recently conquered the Insanity Program by Beachbody! A little over a year ago I was unexpectedly diagnosed with a very rare auto-immune liver disease, and was told by my doctors that the only course of treatment was a full liver transplant. The news was devastating, but it was the primary source of motivation I needed to get my self into shape. I found myself completely out of shape, and at 5’9” I weighed in at 200lbs. I had come across an infomercial about the Insanity program, and I instantly fell in love with the idea of punishing myself into shape, it wasn’t long after I received the program in the mail, and inserted the first disk into the DVD player.
I have very a vivid recollection of that first workout…. I knew it was going to be hard from all the promotional hype, but I was completely and utterly unprepared for the day that changed my life. Less than 4 minutes into the workout I was gassed, I had to pause the video and try to get my breathing and heart rate under control. I remember saying to myself “Holy Crap…tomorrow I should remember to do some stretches before the workout because this is crazy.” I recovered enough to hit play again, and was blown away when Sean T said the warm up was done, and that we would be stretching out before we get into the workout! I could not believe what I heard, I was completely exhausted and we had not even started the workout!
It took me a full 10 days of conditioning before I was able to keep up with the video long enough to make it through the warm up. Towards the end of month 1, I was able to keep pace through the entire workout without taking any extra rests. Month 2 was killer, but Sean T has this way with keeping you motivated. At the end of the program I weighed in at 172lbs, and had lost 4 pant sizes! Looking back I am surprised at how easy the program is to stick with. The workouts are incredibly challenging, but they are short, and don’t take a huge time commitment every day. The diet guide is also very user friendly and easy to stick with. I must also stress that proper nutrition was hugely important to my success. For the first week of reduced caloric intake I felt hungry all the time, but my body soon adjusted and the diet became second nature. I supplemented some of my meals with Shakeology from Beachbody as well.
Insanity has become a part of my life, and I am currently working on my second round of insanity with my brother Mark. It is much more challenging, fun and motivating to compete with a workout budy, and I owe a large part of my success to his daily encouragement and motivation. I’m as healthy as I have ever been in my life, although I still await news of a liver transplant, I wont stop pressing play.
For anyone thinking about trying Insanity…do it! You don’t have to be in shape to start, you just have to be dedicated. Dig deep and don’t quit!”
