Ever since I was young, I’ve always enjoyed helping other people. I guess you can say that helping others has always been a passion of mine! There’s just something that is extremely full-filling when you know you’ve had a positive impact on someone’s life. Back in high school I got involved with an organization called Big Brothers Big Sisters, which I know many of you have heard of before. If you haven’t heard of it, BBBS is something that you can get involved in where you become a mentor to a kid aged from a young child to a teenager.
The kid that I chose was an 8 y/o boy named David. David grew up in a very rough life, and had no positive influence from a male figure because both of his parents abandoned him when he was very young and left him and his sister to their grandma. On top of that, his sister is quadriplegic because their dad got in a wreck with her in the car when she was just a baby. From what I heard, he was on drugs at the time. His parents were drug addicts and alcoholics and always running from the cops. Needless to say, David grew up in a bad environment until his grandma took over custody. His grandma knew that he needed a positive male influence in his life, and that’s when she approached Big Brothers Big Sisters. I was David’s “Big” for about 3 years until the father came back into the picture. I felt that I was able to teach David many life lessons and just have an overall positive impact on his life.
After my experience with David and BBBS, I knew that I wanted to have a career where I could help others. It’s funny when you think about the things that have happened in your past that have set you up for your future because my past has prepared me for the things that are happening now in my life. It all fits together like some sort of life puzzle!
One of the other things that I have been very passionate about is fitness. I have played baseball all my life, and was always in the gym trying to get stronger and improve my fitness level. Lifting and learning about fitness was fun to me! There was even a point in my college career that I was thinking about becoming a personal trainer, but I knew that a career as a personal trainer doesn’t make great money, so I decided to study to become a Financial Advisor in the hopes of helping people stay financially strong. After college, that’s exactly the career that I chose.
About 3 months into my Financial Advising career was when I came across P90X. 90 days later I was in the best shape of my life, telling everyone about this awesome program! I became so passionate about fitness at that point that I talked about the program to everyone I knew, giving them tips on how they could lose weight and get healthy. That’s when I decided to become a Beachbody Coach. I was so passionate about helping others get into shape that I knew that it was a great fit. To be honest, I didn’t understand the potential at the time to make it a full-time career, but I wasn’t worried about it because that’s not the reason I got involved. I got involved solely to help others get into shape.
As time went on, I started to notice the impact that I was having on so many people’s lives. Many of the people that I would coach would email or call me and say, “Thank you because you have just changed (or saved) my life.” I don’t know about you all, but when someone tells me that I’ve had that much of an impact on their life, I’m completely moved and have a tremendous sense of fulfillment. Nothing can replace that feeling! After that kept continuing to happen, I knew that I had to do everything that I could to become a full-time Beachbody Coach. A year and a few months later, my dream came true.
I’ve always wanted a career where I could have a positive impact on other people’s lives, and that’s exactly what I now do as a full-time Beachbody Coach. I can tell you right now that I have the best job out there! Since I started coaching over 2 years ago, I’ve been able to have an impact on almost 5,000 people going through Beachbody programs. Simply put…awesome..
