Importance of Support

Last night during the weekly Team Next Level Coaching Opportunity webinar, I started talking about the reasons why Beachbody and Team Beachbody are succeeding as fast as they are, and like I always do, I mentioned the importance of the role of support from Team Beachbody Coaches. Today, I really started thinking about the importance of support in my life, everything from my relationships, career,  to my fitness, and how there is no way that I would be where I am today without the support of others. So today, I wanted to take some time and explain why support is one of the most important factors in determining whether or not you will be successful.

Let’s go back to my days when I was playing high school baseball. There is no doubt that I had some tough years, especially during summer travel ball, where I just wasn’t on my game. I guess it was mostly mental because I always got down on myself and was completely afraid of failure, which in turn, caused me to fail, leading to me getting benched a few times. I remember not talking to anyone on the car ride home after games because I was so down on myself, knowing I had failed, and when we eventually did get home, I would take long hikes in the woods by myself. There used to be this certain spot that I would go to by the river, sit there and just think about why I failed, and really, just got more and more upset with myself. After this one day that had literally been the worst day of baseball in my life, I got home and ran upstairs, closed my door, and just sat there with my head in my hands, wondering whether or not I should just give up baseball, but then there was this knock on my door. It was my dad, and he walked in, threw “The Magic of Thinking Big” on my bed, and told me to read it. He didn’t ask, he told me, and when he tells me to do something I do it, no questions asked. I read through the book, and it helped me understand the importance of accepting and embracing failure, using it as a learning tool so that you can make adjustments and move forward, and from that point on, my success in baseball sky rocketed to the point where I received national honors my junior and senior years in college. Looking back, without the support from my dad and mom with baseball, there is no doubt that I would have given up a long time ago, and never been able to achieve all of my baseball goals.

Let’s fast forward to a few months after I graduated college. I was out of shape and miserable, hating the way I looked and felt, so much that it affected not only my career, but also my relationships, so I decided to do something about it. I decided to order P90X and attempt to get back into shape to boost my confidence. The first few weeks were easy in terms of staying motivated, but after that the motivation started to slip a bit. I started getting tired of eating clean and feeling sore! However, my best friend Jeremy decided that he was going to go through the program with me, so whenever I felt unmotivated, I called him up and he set me straight, and we went back and forth doing this for one another during the first few months to the point where we didn’t need that extra motivation anymore because we had established a habit of doing these things on a consistent basis. On top of that, my Beachbody Coach was there to help every step of the way as well, and whenever I needed help with anything, she was always a phone call or email away, and that support was absolutely priceless! Because of the support from her and Jeremy, it led me to the Beachbody Coach Business because I wanted to be there to support others just like they did for me. I understood how important the role of support was in terms of my success, and I knew that I could literally help thousands of lives if I was able to do that as well. Little did I know that it would eventually become my full-time career, and I get to support thousands of people on a daily basis!

If you want to know why Beachbody is succeeding the way it is, it’s because of the amount of support Beachbody Coaches are giving to their customers. It was absolutely genius for Carl Daikeler and John Congdon to come up with Team Beachbody because with as tough as their programs are, most people would just quit after a few weeks. Let’s face it, we are a lazy country! However, because there are coaches out there saying “Don’t give up, you can do this!” and “I’ve been there before, keep going!”, people are staying motivated and committing themselves much longer than they normally would, long enough to establish a habit and see excellent results, only to eventually become Beachbody Coaches themselves to have an impact on other people. The cycle continues, and Team Beachbody explodes! It’s such an amazing thing to be a part of and experience!

Now let’s take a minute to talk about the business side of things. When I was becoming a Beachbody Coach, do you know how many people said that I couldn’t do it, and came up with 100 different reasons why I wouldn’t succeed? I can’t tell you, but there were a lot! However, there were some people who were there to support me with my decision like my parents, best friends, and fiance Melinda, and they are the reasons why I was able to stick with it and become as successful as I have. For those of you who didn’t know, I ended up winning Top Beachbody Coach 2010 out of over 50,000 coaches in the U.S., but there is no way I would have gotten there alone. There were many times of struggle, disappointment, failure, but no matter what, I always had people telling me to keep pushing and that they believed in me, and that’s why I was able to achieve my dreams! Support played a MAJOR role in my success in the Team Beachbody Business!

So what it all comes down to is support is a key ingredient to success, no questions asked. If you don’t have support from your wife, husband, parents, best friends, chances are you’re going to have a very tough time succeeding because whenever you’re down and times are tough, you will have people saying “I told you so” instead of “Don’t worry about it, I believe in you!” That extra support and encouragement goes a long way, whether it’s with your fitness, career, or relationships! If you don’t have support from your family and friends, sit down and talk with them, explain that you need their support and need them to believe in you. What you can also do is come to me. As a Beachbody Coach, I’ve helped thousands of people stay motivated to go through Beachbody programs and move forward with the Beachbody Business! It’s free to make me your coach, and all you have to do is click here.

  1. “No man is an island” in the truest sense. Support, whether active or sideline is absolutely critical.
