Living With Integrity

This past weekend I had the chance to site down and talk one on one with one of the most respected and successful coaches in Team Beachbody, Traci Morrow. Traci is one of the founding coaches for Team Beachbody, has had an amazing transformation, and is also featured in the P90X Plus workouts. One of the things that Traci and I spent a lot of time talking about was living with integrity, one of the most important keys to a healthy, happy life!

From studying others, I have found that the more successful somebody becomes, the more they are tempted to do things that might cause them to sacrifice their integrity and ethics. Unfortunately, the majority of successful people fall into this trap, and there are only a select few that are strong enough to maintain their integrity as they become more successful in life. Fortunately, I’m one of those select few, as I have been raised this way, but many people aren’t. When I was young, my parents always taught me that whatever I did, I should never sacrifice my integrity to earn more money or increase my status. There have been many times, especially recently, where I have faced these challenges, but that’s not how I want to live my life. I believe that I will be rewarded more in the long run, especially emotionally, for doing what’s right instead of doing what immediately increases my status and income. I have learned that when you are standing at the crossroads and can make either an ethical or unethical decision, even if the unethical decision might be more beneficial immediately, the ethical decision is the best route to take. It will be well worth it in the end!

I have been facing one of those crossroads recently, and I really am blessed to be able to talk to someone like Traci to walk me through the decision process. Traci I really spent a lot of time talking about this, and she just verified what I knew all along, and that’s to travel down the road that doesn’t cause me to sacrifice my integrity.  In our eyes, there is no other route to take than the one that is most ethical, that allows us to maintain our integrity. We will be more respected, and feel much better about ourselves by taking the road less traveled! My goal is to always be a positive influence and lead by example for the coaches on my team, the people that I coach, and my family. Integrity is important for success, emotional well being, and living a fulfilling life!

If you are ever faced with a decision where you have to choose between an ethical and unethical solution, email me, Josh Spencer, at and I will walk you through the decision process. If I can make a positive difference on your life, then I have done my job!

  1. Hey Josh, thanks for sharing this. I wonder if this particular struggle is a reason that many people sabotage their success before they even get started because they are scared of eventually becoming corrupt or unethical. This is definitely an encouragement for those people, and everyone else too, that it’s the love of money that is the root of the problem, not making money, or building a business. Thanks for sharing! God bless.

  2. Great post Josh! A few years ago there was a study done on the character qualities of the richest people in America. The person doing the study (can’t remember his name) found that the #1 character quality in those people was that they were fanatical about their integrity. Good stuff!
