I was sitting in the living room tonight talking to my roommate, and I asked him, “What do you think I should write about in my blog?” He said to me, “Talk about why people quit after a few weeks into any kind of fitness and diet program.” I thought this was an excellent idea, so this will be the topic for today.
Why do people quit? There are many reasons why people get off track. We live in a society of overweight people, and most realize that they are indeed overweight and for some reason or another they get the motivation to begin some sort of program. It might be a commercial they saw on television, or even a friend recommending a new diet to them, but they decide that it’s time to get into shape because they are not happy with themselves.
They are so pumped to start the program, and try as hard as they can for the first few days or weeks to stick with it, then something happens. They realize that a lot of hard work is involved. People anymore are used to getting things handed to them, and not used to working hard to achieve success. They think that it will be easy to follow the program and get amazing results in just a short period of time, but we know that that is not the case. People are ALWAYS looking for the easy way out of everything. For example, everyone has seen that commercial on TV about the “ab belt” that “automatically” tones your abs with electronic pulses. Why has this been such a success? Because people believe that they don’t have to do anything to get amazing abs! You and I both know how hard you have to work with both your diet and exercise to get great abs. It takes extreme focus in the kitchen as well as the weight room to get that 6-pack.
So when these people finally realize that they actually have to work to achieve success, they give up and go back to their normal lives of eating unhealthy and not working out. They believe it isn’t worth the effort it takes to get into shape. Every one of my coachees and I are different. We believe and realize that only hard work and dedication will lead to success, and that’s why I have gotten the results I have, and that’s why you all have had amazing results so far. We are a group that truly believes that at the end of the 90 days we will be in the best shape of our lives. Yes, it is one hell of a hard workout program, but it’s really worth it. Take me, someone who was completely out of shape six months ago, and look at me now. I am in the best shape of my life and making improvements every week. I have succeeded because I have the ability to push myself every day, whether it’s with my workouts or my diet, because I know where I want to be, and nothing is going to stop me from getting there.
Don’t be one of those people who fall off the bandwagon after a few weeks. Stay strong and complete this program for you. You deserve to be healthy and feel good about yourself. By Day 90, you will be the most confident you have ever been in your entire life! BRING IT!
