I posted a comment on Facebook asking you all for great blog ideas, and most of them revolved around healthy foods to eat, so here it is, another post with some healthy foods and recipes! Healthy recipes for P90X!
The first is tuna wraps. First of all, you have to purchase whole wheat tortillas at wal-mart called Buena Vida, canned light tuna, light mayo, onion, and fat free mozzarella or american cheese. Drain the tuna and place in a large glass bowl. Next, add a tablspoon of light mayo to the tuna. After that, dice a quarter of the onion and mix in with the tuna. Turn a burner on medium and place the tortilla on a skillet, and flip the totilla after a minute. Now add the tuna onto the wrap, along with the cheese, for another minute. Take the tortilla off the pan and roll it up! Now you have a tasty healthy tortilla wrap!
Chicken stir fry. First, you need to purchase minute brown rice, onion, green peppers, red bell peppers, chicken breasts, and low sodium soy sauce. Follow the directions on how to make the brown rice. Cut up the onion, green peppers, and red bell peppers into slices, and sautee in a skillet, with the burner on medium. After you thaw the chicken breasts (if frozen), cut into chunks. Cook the chicken in the skillet until done, and then season it to taste. We use garlic and onion powder. Next, after everything is cooked, take the brown rice and add a teaspoon of soy sauce, and then top with green peppers, onion, red bell peppers, and then add in the chicken. Mix it up and there is your chicken stir fry!
Next is my favorite recipe of all, and that’s breaded chicken. First, you will need to purchase eggs, wheat germ, chicken breasts, light marinara sauce, fat free mozzarella, and garlic powder seasoning. Thaw out the chicken (if frozen) and dice it up into chunks. Next, get a separate bowl and put in 2 egg whites (yolks are high in fat, so it’s important that you do your best to stay away from them). Get another bowl and place about a cup of wheat germ along with garlic powder in it. Dip the chicken in the egg whites, and then into the wheat germ. When you’re done dipping all of the chicken, place in a skillet with the burner on medium. Cook until the chicken is done and then add in 1/2 cup marinara sauce. Last, place about 1/4 cup of shredded mozzarella on top, put a lid on the pan until the cheese is melted, and you have yourself a healthy breaded chicken!
The last recipe is another favorite of mine, and we call it Chicken Pizziola. First, you will need to purchase chicken breasts, turkey pepperoni, fat free mozarella, and light marinara sauce. Thaw the chicken breasts and butterfly (cut the chicken in the middle, but not completely through). Turn the oven on 375 degress and cook on 20-30 minutes on each side (40-an hour total). Take the chicken out of the oven and add a teaspoon of marinara in the middle of each chicken breast, along with 3-4 turkey pepperoni’s, and a pinch of cheese. Place back in the oven for 5-10 minutes and then you have a healthy, tasty meal for the whole family!
