My P90X Review

After I finished college and got a job in the financial industry, my fitness level took a plunge. I put my own health on the back-burner so that I could focus on being successful monetarily, but I soon found out that I had to have confidence in myself if I wanted others to have confidence in me. I knew I had to do something about being out of shape, and came upon the P90X Infomercial late one night while I was eating a bowl of ice cream. After doing some research, I decided to order the program and give it a try. Little did I know that it would change my entire life!

When you receive P90X, you will receive 12 DVD’s, along with a Fitness Guide and Nutrition Guide. The Fitness Guide has about 100 pages that go into great detail about each of the workouts and how to do the exercises, allowing you to go to the gym and do the workouts if you would like. The Nutrition Guide is a comprehensive 3 phase guide that explains how, what, and when to eat. I really like the Meal Plan because it outlines exactly what foods you should eat every day. You will also need to have the P90X Pull-Up bar, which is excellent because you don’t have to attach it to anything. All you have to have is a door frame wide enough to hold it.  Once you begin the program, you’re quickly going to realize why the program is so effective! For one thing, you are going to be extremely sore during the first few weeks! I know I was! When Beachbody talks about muscle confusion, they aren’t kidding!

After the first month, I had lost 15 lbs and about 7% body fat, and was already in the best shape of my life, and knew that it was only going to get better. When day 90 rolled around, I had lost a total of 25 lbs and 10% body fat, and was absolutely ripped! People literally could not believe my transformation, and immediately wanted to know what I did. I told them that “if you are able to commit yourself to this program that you too could get into the best shape of your life!” If you’re one of those people who are tired of being out of shape and ready for a change, click below to try P90X today! It worked for me and it can for you too!

This seems to be a great program for people who are fit that want to lose that extra 10% and get ripped.

I don’t see this program being as effective for anyone who is just getting back into fitness or someone like myself who has a hard time doing more than 5 push ups.

How does this program address those of us who live a sedentary life, office, car and the couch are most of our activities?

    Thanks,
    AJ

The great thing about the program is that there are modified versions of the exercises that you can do if you can’t do the normal ones. My fiance couldn’t do an unassisted pull-up, but with hard work doing the assisted versions, she was able to get a few unassisted over time.

I’m about ready to start P90X but have a couple concerns. I’m a college student who struggles to a certain extent financially. I want to give the program my complete dedication, but sometimes cooking and following the meal plan can be difficult for me as far as time and money are concerned. I figured I’d just calculate the nutritional values of each meal P90X wants you to eat and just buy a cheaper less preparation version of that meal. Would this be okay to do? Also, I tend to run a lot when i want to get in shape, would you rec recommend i continue running in addition to P90X?

  • Josh (author) said:

Haha I think every college student struggles financially. Anyways, it’s going to be hard to follow the guide exactly, so all you can do is take in the right amount of calories, stick with the proper foods, and stay within the recommended fat/carb/protein % each day. For the Fat Shredder, which is what you will be starting with, follow a f/c/p % of 20/30/50 and you can keep track of that by logging what you eat into http://www.fitday.com. Awesome man! Did you order P90X through this site? Also, you should have gotten a tracking number with your order. You can also contact Beachbody Customer Service and find out when they sent it out.

With the P90-x Classic and lean versions do you have to work out everyday, or is it just every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday? With recovery/rest days on Tuesday and Thursday… Thanks!

  • Josh (author) said:

You are still going to work out 6 days a week with the P90X lean and classic versions.

I already did a round of p90x with okay results. I went from 140 to 130 and got a flat stomach, but no abs showing. However, I totally changed my diet. I went from one of those people who had OREO’s for breakfast to eating how p90x suggested for the most part.

I finished at the end of April and since then fell off the diet. Not all the way as I’m still eating healthy foods, but I’m not afraid to have a cookie…or six. And so my stomach is starting to gain fat again.

I REALLY want a six pack. Bad. But I also need to gain mass. I need to weigh more than 130 and even though my stomach has some fat, I look skinny/bony despite having good muscle from the first round.

What do you suggest I do when I start my second round June 1? A low calorie diet in June to lose fat and then try and gain mass during the last two phases? Or will one month in June not be enough time to lose fat so my abs show? If I had to choose, I might pick the six pack over gaining mass, but I really don’t like weighing so little and I know going for a six pack may mean losing even more weight.

You have to understand that when you go through this program, it’s a life long commitment to a healthy lifestyle. Why would you go through the program, get results, and then ruin them by going back to your old habits? For this round you really need to commit yourself to the entire program, including the diet, if you want to reach all your goals. Just follow the Nutrition Guide how it’s set up, focusing on losing the body fat first. Also, have you made me your coach yet? Hey Josh im in 2nd week of p90X and was wondering do I have to stick to the nutrition guide even though i already eated healthy before starting this program? I know the right foods to eat and the right amount of calories to consume.

  • Josh (author) said:

Damon, the most important thing is that you’re eating healthy, taking in the right amount of cals, and are following the proper fat/carb/protein % outlined in the Nutrition Guide.

  • DJ said:

Hey Josh I am a 5′10″ 140# skinny guy. Is P90X something that would work for someone like me to gain weight and muscle? Thanks.

  • Josh (author) said:

@DJ. Yeah man, you can gain mass with the program! What you need to do is type “gain mass with P90X” in the search box. Also, if you purchase the program from this site, I will become your coach and be here to help you through the program. Let me know if you have other questions.

  • Peter said:

Hey Josh i wanted to ask you a quick question. my total weight is 222 and height 5′11. do you think from your experience with the p90x that it is possible to reach your fitness level and how many rounds do i have to do to get to your physique. because iam sick and tired of being a fatty and iam really lookin forward into being fit for the fist time in my life please help me out with that thnx

  • Josh (author) said:

@Peter. I honestly believe that anyone can reach their fitness goals if they put enough effort towards it! If you commit yourself 110% to both the diet and the workouts, you will see results. P90X is an amazing program, and I’ve seen it transform people’s lives! It might take you 1 round or it might take you 3 to reach your goals, but it doesn’t matter as long as you get there.

If you decide to purchase the program, which I hope you do, you can do so from this site, which will make me your coach and I’ll be here to help you through the program.

  • Peter said:

i already have p90x and earlier this morning i made you my coach i really appreciate your possitive feed back. i wanted to ask you something else the only meal iam eating is the one you have listed on your site when you first began p90x which is breakfast (fat free milk and cheerios and a tablespoon of peanutbutter) snack (protein bar and recovery drink) lunch (chicken breast and apple and half a cup of salad with fatfree thousand island dressing) snack (sergento light string cheese) dinner (salmon half a cup of salad and half a cup of vegetables and a teaspoon of fat free thousand island dressing) can i use this for all my three phases… and my wife is doing this exercise as well she is trying to lose all her baby fat do you think by using this diet for all three phases and giving 110 percent commitment to both the exercise and the diet can we accomplish our goals.

  • Josh (author) said:

@Peter. You need to make sure you’re taking in enough calories and following the Nutrition Guide. What I posted was a sample for me at my height and weight. It’s going to be different for you. Also, your wife needs to talk to my fiance Melinda, who just had our baby a little over a year ago and lost 35lbs since then! Her website is http://www.iwanttogettoned.com, and you can find her email there.

  • peter said:

oh ok….and thnx alot sorry for all the questions….one more question i already added you as my coach. how does that work now.

  • Josh (author) said:

@Bruno. The diet is the most important part of the program and what determines how great of results you get. Follow the Nutrition Guide! Also, you can find a list of supplements I use and recommend in the “Q&A” section.

Hey Josh I ordered p90x today. I started dieting back in Oct when I went to culinary school. When i started i weighed about 260 and as of this morning i am 200 lbs. The one thing I am going for is the cutter look and tightening my core. Once I get down to my goal of 170 then adding 15 in mass I am going back into my mma. Is there anything that you recommend when doing p90x that will maximize and accelerate my results? Also what weights will need to be used? Dumbells, resitance bands, and the pull up bar is that all? Thanks and I actually just added you on your facebook so ill talk to you through there when you respond to this.

  • Josh (author) said:

@Josh. Wow man congrats on the weight loss! OK, really all you can do is commit yourself to both the diet and the workouts, along with taking the right supplements. You can find what supplements I use and recommend in the “Q&A” section of this site.

Hey Josh, I’m half way into phase 3, I’m really happy with my results, at day one i was 185 pounds with 23% body fat, now I’m just 150 pounds with 10% body fat. The only thing I don’t like about my results is that I just got skinny, do you have any tips on how I could start to get ripped. I’ve increased all my weights and I’m still not getting ripped.

  • Josh (author) said:

@Jose. It sounds to me like you weren’t taking in enough calories or using heavy enough weights. Focus on 8-10 reps and take in around 2,400 cals per day.

Also, am I your coach? If not, you can make me your coach by clicking on this link: https://teambeachbody.com/signup/-/signup/free/47458

  • Jose said:

oh okay thanks, what does the coach do and how does it help? I don’t understand the concept of having a coach? Do you mind explaining it to me?

  • Jose said:

I’m currently doing the p90x diet plan, level 2. The problem is that I can’t find some foods that it tells me to eat, so I just substitute them for another type of food. I’m lifting enough weights to feel the burn on the 6th rep. Is it a good idea to skip plyo and kenpo to do more workouts that help build muscle? I evening don’t eat some extras in the meals because i can’t find them, For example, i can’t find many of the sauces that the diet tells me to eat, so I just don’t eat sauces.

  • Josh (author) said:

@Jose. Follow the program how it’s designed bro.

  • Josh (author) said:

@Jose. As your coach I’ll be here to help you through the program and answer any questions that you may have. Understand that the way I benefit from being your coach is that I earn credit for any purchases that you make through this site or by logging into http://www.teambeachbody.com.
