How do you personally measure your body fat %? I noticed in a different post you said the hand held machines will give you a ball park estimate, how would I go about getting a more concrete number?
I got my body fat professionally measured at my local college.
I am doing p90x and i am in the second week of training and some times I cant do as many abs as tony, how did you do to get the body you wanted?
With Ab Ripper X, just make sure you complete the entire workout, even if you have to puase it 20 times.
I was wondering if on your first 90 days of P90X did you use enough weight for 8 to 10 reps for mass or did you use weight for 12 to 15 reps to get lien?
Is it important to do yogo x?
Hey man! I focused on 12-15 reps during my first round and then switched to 8-10 with heavier weights during my second round to gain some mass. Make sure that last rep is near impossible to get.
Yeah, it’s very important because there are a ton of benefits! It increases balance, core strength, and flexibility.

hey josh i got one more question im 18 and this is my last year of high school i have about 3 and a half months before i graduate and i made it my goal when i was in 9th grade 210 pounds to get a six pack beforei graduate. now i dropped 50 pounds already and i am currently 160 pounds 14 percent bodyfat. i was looking into the beachbody programs and was wondering which program would get me closer to my goal. p90x or insanity. i would really appreciate your opinion in this matter. thanks
Congrats on the 50lbs loss man! That’s quite an accomplishment! Insanity is geared more towards losing fat fast, but is also a very intense program. However, I like P90X because there is a balance of both cardio and resistance, and is what I have been following for 2 years. Hey Josh,
Just a couple questions i can see your a busy coach man!! Just ordered P90x from the beachbody website and tracking it and should be arriving to my house on monday and im excited and nervous haha. Okay so would you say i should get resistance bands or should i use dumbbells? Also i am in descent shape but reading reviews people say its harder than it looks. How strict is the routine or is playing a dvd more than once okay? Oh last question it said i will get a coach or have the option to get a coach how do i go bout that someone to help keep me motivated! Do i just comment on here?

I recommend the dumbbells, but the resistance bands are a great alternative. Also, the program is very hard, and you need to make sure you commit to both the diet and the workouts if you want excellent results!

in p90x are there workouts for your traps to?. And for the chest do you ever do any weighted exercise with the chest in p90x?
There are some workouts for your traps. Also, yeah, I’ve used a weighted vest before for the workouts.
Just to tell you I’ve been on your site for the past 3 days straight and I’m amaized at your 90 day results and of course where you are at today. I hope to achieve half of your results. You have some great results man. I just signed up for you to be my coach. I will be purchasing the protein bars, recovery drink and if my money streachs long enough the shakeology as well as the glutimien. I’ve done one round of P90X with ok results. I didn’t follow the diet to the “T” as I should have, if I did I probably would have gotten better results. Well since my first round I slacked off and I want to het back to it but a month ago I tore 4 ligaments on my ankle so and am now in a walking boot. My questions to you is.
1. What do you think I should get first shakeology or the recovery drink if I can’t get both right away? Which would benifit me more?
2. Since I’m still in a walking boot and recoverying rather quickly, I know I can’t really do the cardio X or plyo basically anything with legs on the program. Should I at least do the arms, shoulders and the back routines or should I just wait till I’m at 100% to start the program.
Oh by the way I’m 6′1 and 240lbs not sure what my BF% is but i pack most of my weight like others on my gut. I’m looking to get ripped and gain alittle bit more size bit not much. I just want to be defined and have those killer abs you have. Which I know with a stricked diet I can achieve.
Another question I have is when you drink your Shakeology drink what if any meal do you replace breakfast or lunch and which do you think is more benifical if there is a difference? I was going to drink it for breakfast early when I wake up since my work hours start normal than usual people (I work from 4am to 12:30pm) so I was going to have the drink within the hour of waking up then proceed to the 2-3 hour meal increments.
By the way I followed the link to buy the shakeology HD, recovery drink HD & a box of a variety pack protein bars so I can try them all and continue to buy the one I like most. Hope you got the credit and thanks again for putting this website up. It’s really informative and I’m ready to recover from my injury and achieve the goals I know I can accomplish with you help. I usually replace lunch with Shakeology. It actually doesn’t matter if you use it for breakfast or lunch. My dad is about to purchase it so he can use it for breakfast every morning, which is just fine. I appreciate you ordering off my site! Let me know what you think about Shakeology. Remember, the best recipe is to blend it with Fat Free of Almond Milk, 8 ice cubes, and a banana.
Hey man! If you can commit yourself 110% to both the workouts and the diet, you will get excellent results! To answer your questions..
(1) Both of those that you mentioned are excellent products, but if you were going to purchase 1 right away, I would say Shakeology, which you can use as a post workout recovery from time to time.
(2) How long do you think it’s going to be until you can go full-out with the program? You could start doing some upper body workouts now if you want. I know I would want to!
Also, what is your Beachbody Screen name?
It’s RL3000, I havent really set up anything on there. I create it the day I signed up to be your coach. But thanks for your advice. I actually bought all everything I mentioned above including shakeology which beachbody shipped today along with all the other stuff I bought. Im so ready to get started. As far as when I’ll be able to go full force its hard to tell I’ve been out of commision since March 1, Im in a walking boot now and Im able to walk on it but I think im about 50%. I cant jump so I cant do plyo which sucks cuz I want to go 100% but it is what it is. But I’ll do the upperbody stuff and stick to that diet 110%. Damn are you serious? Yeah I did have an account but I never had a coach assigned to me and I followed the link like you stated so that you can get the credit. Is there anyway you can get credit now? hey Josh, I have a couple of questions I wanted to ask you about the nutrition for p90x. I’m 6′1 and about 185, I have just started p90x and wanted to know what kind of diet to do when trying to gain more muscle and lose fat. should i stick with the phase 3 diet or will this cause me to lose too much weight? or can i eat about 3000 calories daily and do the workouts and lose body fat.
You need to focus on either gaining mass or losing fat, not both. It takes 2 completely different diets and is too tough to do together. Focus on losing the fat first by following the Fat Shredder Phase in the Nutrition Guide, and then gradually work your way up to more calories and carbs. 3,000 cals per day is more for gaining mass and will make it hard for you to lose weight/body fat. Hey man! I just had a quick question. Where would be the best place to get the pull up bar? I don’t exactly have a lot of money to spend but I really want to get the equipment to do it right.
Also, so I’m 6′1″ and I weigh 165lbs. I have the p90x system but I just need to start. Will it help me gain weight/mass? Will using heavier weights help a lot?

Hi Josh! I have been reading comments and looking at pictures of your transformation . Your results are amazing! I understand that if I want to achieve the resluts I want, I must dedicate myself to the diet and exercise-Some people say that they are so sore the first week that they have a hard time doing the workouts everyday. Was your first week like this? (I know your first week was a long time ago
Thanks Znek! OK, yes, I was extremely sore during the first week, but that’s completely normal! You just have to push yourself to complete all the workouts, even if you are sore. wat up josh i been doin p90x for about a mounth now and dieting hard and i was wonderin if i drink like one day at the weekend but dont go over my calorie limit would that be ok
I like to have a few drinks during the weekend. Make sure you stick with light drinks such as rum and diet coke, Select 55, or MGD 64. Also, don’t go overboard!
I have two questions…
1. Are the pictures of your final results right after a workout or when your body is at rest?
2. How long did it take for youe six pack to become visible without having to flex?
(1) The pics are after a workout.
(2) It took about 2-3 weeks for me to see a 6 pack without flexing.
Hey Josh! I want to get a Club Membership but I don’t live in Canada/USA.
1.Is there any possibility to do it?
I need a proper nutrition . That what is in P90x is so hard to follow [for example: when I'm in school etc.]I don’t have time to prepare such meals.
And Josh – I’m still thin. I want to gain some mass. [I weight about 135 lbs and want to reach 165 or even 175.
2.Do I have to eat special food with more proteins or just follow p90x diet and train a lot?
And one more
3.I don't do all exercise which are in P90X. [pylos, strech and yoga] Will I get ripped without these workouts as fast/much as with them?
@Martin. Unfortunately, there is no way for you to become a Beachbody member if you don’t live in the US or Canada. Just follow the program how it’s set up and you will get results!
I’d Josh. But my brain still thinks that doing streches, pylos and yoga is a waste of time and I may do bicep,abs etc. exercises in those days.
@Martin. Well you need to train your brain to think otherwise! You’ve got to trust me on this one!

What do i need to get along with just p90x… do i really need the results and recovery..and the bands , to get my muscles built up.. or can i just get the program and follow it exactly, and leave out the extra stuff..
@Jason. The Recovery Formula is an important supplement and will help with your results. Also, you have to have either dumbbells or resistance bands. Personally, I think the free weights are better.

Hey josh! i know there is a couple of programs here to choose from. I would like you to be my coach on this here, but i want to make sure i’m getting all the stuff i need right away in one shot ex.supps, dumbells ect ect.. i’m 29 now and used to be in good shape but after some knee problems i kinda have to stay away from some sports. so i still got some muscle on me, it just feels like there is a layer of fat around it all and i feel a lil soft now. 5″8 and 179 pounds and my BF is at 22.00% i just lost about 20 pounds for some reason so now I think it’s my body telling me now is the time to bring it! thanks man!
