As most of you already know, I started taking Jack3d about a week ago when I started another round of P90X. I used to take NO-Explode for many years, and loved it, but I’ve heard nothing but great things about this new pre-workout supplement. Actually, one of my friends recommended it to me because he started using it for his workouts and preached by it. He told me that I would never feel a greater pump than I would with Jack3d, so I decided to give it a try.
The first time I took it was on the P90X Chest & Back day, and remember, this is the first time that I have worked out in 2 months because of my broken hand. I took Jack3d, creatine monohydrate powder, and drank 8 oz. of natural fruit juice about 40 minutes before my workout. I only took one scoop of Jack3d because I didn’t know how my body would react. About 20 minutes later I felt like I had more energy, but I wasn’t sure if it was from the anticipation of working out or from the supplement. Either way, I was ready. When the workout started, I was really pushing myself and went till failure with each push up series, which was a mistake, especially since I haven’t worked out for so long. For one thing, I started getting nauseous quickly, and my hand also started to get very sore. I knew I didn’t want to re-injure my hand, so I called it quits at about the half-way mark. I really wasn’t too sure if Jack3d had worked or not. However, I did know it was still in my system because I had a very tough time sleeping that night.
The next day I decided to take 2.5 scoops of Jack3d before my Shoulders & Arms workout. This time, I really felt the effect and my chest started tingling about 15 minutes after I took it. I was super pumped to work out, and was very surprised at the amount of pumps or reps that I was able to bust out in the beginning. I figured that I would only be able to curl 2 sets of 8 of 30lbs from the lack of resistance training over the last few months, but I got 16 reps of 30lbs. However, again, my hand started getting very sore and I had to stop about 2/3 the way through the workout, which was very frustrating. It got to the point where I couldn’t even grip the dumbbell properly. Jack3d definitely had an effect on my workout this time. But then it came time to go to bed. I figured that after 8 hours it would be out of my system, but I still felt that tingling in my chest, which I knew wasn’t a good sign. I went to bed at 12:30 and laid there until about 4:30 AM.
Final Jack3d Review: Jack3d is an excellent pre-workout supplement that will help maximize pumps and give you more energy. However, I don’t recommend taking it at least 10 hours before bed. I’m not too sure if I will be able to take it anymore because I usually work out around 5 PM.
(Update 2/15/13- After doing more research on Jack3d and the controversial ingredient, I stopped taking Jack3d a few years ago because of the risk of the ingredient being dangerous and I can no longer recommend it. For the past few years I have been using a new pre-workout supplement called E&E, which is made by Beachbody.)
