What’s the Purpose of Push-Up Bars?

Power StandsA common question that I get from the people that I coach is, “Is it necessary to use the push-up bars?” My answer? If you’re looking to take your fitness to the next level, then yes. Why? Well that’s what I’m going to take the time to explain below!

As you all know, push-ups have been one of the most used exercises over the years to develop the chest, mostly because if done properly, it engages all the different muscles of the chest. Hopefully you caught it, but I said “if done properly.” Too many people get sloppy and don’t use proper form, especially if they are fatigued. If you can use the proper form, push-ups are one of the most effective way to develop the chest muscles. One of the great things about push-ups is that you can do many, many different variations, helping you get a complete chest workout. This is one of the main reasons why I use push-ups to build this muscle group.

OK, Josh, but you didn’t answer the question! Is it necessary to use the push-up bars! Patience I tell you!

One of the problems that people have when doing push-ups is that it puts a lot of pressure on the wrists. I’ve had many people that I coach ask me if there was something that they could do to eliminate this pain. What do I tell them? Purchase the push-up bars! Instead of forcing you to bend your wrists, the bars keep your wrists straight, therefore eliminating the pressure. The Powerstands are specifically designed to help with wrist strain!

But eliminating wrist pain isn’t the only benefit of push-up bars. They also help you get a greater range of motion, therefore helping you get a better workout. Personally, I love using the push-up bars because I feel that I get a much better workout than with regular push-ups. However, when I started the program, I’m not going to lie, I didn’t use the bars. It wasn’t until I discovered I needed a little something more. I have been using the bars ever since then!

So are the push-up bars necessary? No, but if you’re looking to get the most out of your push-ups, then they are an excellent fitness product to own!
