UNC Group Workout

UNCFor those of you who have been following me on Facebook, you know that yesterday I flew down to North Carolina to hold a HUGE group workout with UNC students. I have some local coaches down in the area, and they were the ones who organized this event in the hopes to possibly change the obesity trends that are occurring in college campuses. Hopefully by exposing college students to Beachbody and the fitness programs and nutrition products that they provide, we can have a positive impact and influence on their health and help them understand the importance of making healthy decisions. So last night they had me come in and lead the workout, and I’m going to talk a little bit about that below.

First of all, the workout was absolute AWESOME! We had somewhere around 250 students showed up, and it was a great feeling to lead that many people through a Beachbody workout. I was up on stage and instead of me just putting together a bunch of random moves from Beachbody workouts, I decided that it would be better to have the students watch the moves from the videos themselves. We started off with the P90X warm-up and stretch and then went straight into Plyometrics. Everyone got a kick out of Tony Horton’s comments, which I do have to say are pretty funny, and it seemed like they really enjoyed the first part of the workout. I gave them a 2 minute break to grab some water and then we jumped right into 10 minutes of TurboFire HIIT 25. HIIT 25 is actually one of my favorite cardio workouts because it’s quick, but it really gets your heart racing and you burn a ton of calories. Needless to say, the women in the audience absolutely loved TurboFire, and there were even some guys that said they enjoyed it as well. I gave them another 2 minute break and then we finished up with the Insanity warm-up. If you have ever gone through Insanity before, you know that the warm-up is a workout itself, and I think they thought I was joking when I told them it was just the warm-up! When we finished, everyone was drenched, and I thought the workout went amazing.

The workout went great and hopefully that will spark some students to start the program and begin living a healthier lifestyle! I’m actually going to be creating a video from everything that has gone on during this event, and should have it available in the next few days.
