Insanity Asylum

Are you ready for this? Most of you have heard of the home workout program called Insanity, right? Well Shaun T announced not too long ago that he is coming out with a new program called Insanity Asylum! I had the privilege to talk to Shaun T about the new Insanity program this past weekend while in Columbus, and he said that it’s going to be harder, more intense, and crazier than the original Insanity. As he was talking about this, I’m thinking to myself that I didn’t realize it could possibly be any harder! If you have gone through the Insanity workout program before, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Insanity is a crazy intense program that really tests your ability to push yourself. It involves jump training, sports drills, along with body weight resistance training, and if you’re not dripping sweat by the end of the workout, then you’re not doing it right!

When Shaun T was talking about the new Insanity Asylum, he said that one of the things that he noticed when traveling around the country doing Insanity workout events was that people thought they could keep up with Insanity, when in reality the only reason they could was because they didn’t use proper form and “cheated” when they got tired. Insanity Asylum won’t allow you to cheat. How? You’re going to have certain marks for drills that you have to keep your feet inside of during the exercises, and if you don’t, you won’t do it right. How? One of the things he incorporated into Insanity Asylum was a ladder. You all know about the Ski Abs and In and Outs, well now you will have to get your legs inside certain rungs of the ladder to do it properly. Plus, it’s the regular exercises but on steroids. From what he was talking about, it’s a progression workout for exercises like Ski Abs. For example, you will do 10 seconds jumping beyond one rung, and then 10 seconds jumping beyond 2 rungs, and then so on and so forth.

One other thing that has me excited about Insanity Asylum is that there is going to be more resistance training than Insanity. The one area that I felt lacked in Insanity was the resistance side of it, but it sounds to me like that is corrected in the new workout program. Personally, I feel that if you want to maximize your results, you have to have a balance of both cardio and resistance training, and Asylum sounds like it’s going to incorporate both. Plus, you’re not going to find a home workout program where you will be pushing yourself and burning more calories that you will with the new Insanity Asylum. I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to this!

Insanity Asylum release date? Shaun T said that it would hopefully be out by the end of March.
