My Ab Ripper X Review: When I first started P90X and went through the first P90X workout, Chest & Back, I thought I was out of the water after I did my last dive bomber push-up. I collapsed on the floor and laid there for a minute, only to hear some strange, eerie music come on in the background. I looked up, and sure enough, there it was, the beginning of Ab Ripper X! I thought there was no way I would be able to complete the workout, as I was already light-headed and shaky, but somehow managed to push myself and complete the whole thing. Don’t even think that I was able to complete it without pausing, because I had to pause it at least 10-15 times! The worst part about the workout was that I felt it more in my lower back and upper legs than anything. Was this normal? I thought I was supposed to feel it more in my abs? After doing some reasearch and talking to others who have compelted the workout, I found out this was completely normal. Like I mentioned above, the P90X Ab Workout works the entire core, not just the abs, so you will feel it in your legs and back as well.
Most people really struggle with this workout at first, and not sure what they should do about it. The best thing you can do is complete all the reps, even if you have to pause it 20-30 times! However, this doesn’t mean you can’t push yourself, because you should always feel that burn with the last rep. If you don’t, then you’re not pushing yourself hard enough. The way to make progress each week is by building the abs and core muscles just as you build every other muscle in your body. The abs are no different!
However, the one thing that everyone must understand is that you MUST have the proper diet if you want to see the abs! You can do the P90X Ab Workout, or ARX, over and over again, but you won’t ever see the abs unless you eat properly. That means you have to watch the amount of calories you take in and limit the carbs. Follow the P90X Nutrition Guide! The Fat Shredder Phase is excellent, and will help you burn that fat around the midsection to reveal your brand new, toned abs. Believe me, if you don’t eat right, you will get discouraged, and end up quitting the program. Remember, diet makes up 80% of your results!
