Are you all ready for this? The new P90X2 is going to be released sometime towards the end of the year! I think we have all been waiting for this to be released for quite some time, and we finally have a time frame. From what they told us out there in L.A. at the Coach’s Summit, P90X2 is going to be released in December, but pre-order will begin sometime in August, and believe me, you’re going to want to pre-order! I have a feeling that this program is going to be more popular than the original P90X, but then again, I guess I’m a little biased since I am in the new Shoulders & Arms. However, biased or not, I know the type of work that they put into this program to make it the most advanced home workout program ever! I’ve got to warn you, though, this isn’t for beginners! Below is my P90X2 preview from what I already know about the program, but first, check out the new P90X2 trailer!
Like I mentioned, I’m in the new P90X 2 Shoulders & Arms routine, and that workout is nuts! I can’t go into too much detail, but it involves 3 sets of 8 non-stop exercises, and by the time you’re down with the 2nd set, you’ve got to lower your weights slightly because of the lactic acid build-up and your shoulders and arms being on fire! It is one tough routine, but what makes it so interesting is the fact that it doesn’t just focus on the shoulders and arms, but really involves the use of the core. Everything that you do involves balance, forcing you to use your core muscle to stay stabilized when doing curls or presses. I thought I could go into the workout and bust out my 55 lbs dumbbells for Arnold Presses, but I was wrong, and had to drop down quite a bit because it was too tough to stay balanced with that much weight. On top of how great the workout is, you’re going to get some comic relief from my good friend Jason Scheff (lead singer of Chicago) and Tony going back and forth with each other. There is no doubt you will have some new Tony Horton sayings to add to your collection! He does a nice little Arnold impression, making fun of my lack of flexibility that you will have to watch out for.
I got a chance to watch many of the other workouts in P90X2, and I’m not going to lie, Shoulders & Arms might be one of the easier workouts! The others are just plain insane! It’s like Insanity intensity, but you’re doing a combination of resistance and cardio workouts, not just cardio. You’re going to be doing pull-ups that you never thought you could do, back exercises that even Mr. Wayne Wyatt was struggling with, and core exercises that make you twist and turn like a pretzel! My only advice is to just make sure you’re ready for P90X2 by going through a round of P90X first. Like I said, this new P90X 2 program is NOT for beginners! If you think you can just go from being a couch potato to P90X2, think again.
