TurboFire HIIT 25

Chalene Johnson TurboFireTurboFire Review

If you have been keeping up with the posts I put on Facebook, you know that yesterday I swallowed my pride and gave in to Melinda’s temptation to have me do TurboFire with her. For the past month or so, I’ve focused solely on resistance training to try and add some mass, but also cut down on some body fat for an upcoming Beachbody Event in Dallas. For some reason, my body responds quicker to resistance workouts than it does cardio. Anyways, yesterday I decided to go for a cardio workout and wanted to mix up my routine a bit, so I gave the TurboFire HIIT 25 class a try. Crazy enough, I actually enjoyed it!

I like to dance, and the one thing that I really like about TurboFire is the music and how the exercises are tied directly into the music. Most of the music on the other videos is OK, but TurboFire’s is great and really gets you pumped up! We turned it up loud, and you really can’t help but just really push yourself when doing the workout. I also noticed that the workout seemed to go much quicker than the others I do, and I think some of it has to do with the music! So one point for TurboFire’s music.

Another thing that I really liked about the TurboFire workout was the intensity. I would compare it somewhat to Insanity, but instead of being all out crazy intense for the entire workout, TurboFire is a true HIIT where you let your heart rate settle and then bring it back up throughout the entire workout. Another point for TurboFire!

The last thing that I really enjoyed about the workout I did yesterday was that Chalene Johnson runs through each series slow before you do the fast version. She slows it down to show you how the moves are done properly so that you can go with full intensity. Chalk up one more point for TurboFire!

All-in-all, TurboFire is one workout that I’m going to start incorporating into my routine. I actually really enjoyed it! It was great too being able to work out with Melinda, which we haven’t done in quite some time! I hope you enjoyed my TurboFire review!

I have tried to get into TurboFire sooooo many times, but damn. They just move way too fast for me. I end up sweating and stressed because I have no idea what move is next. Natural born dancer. I am not.

  2. @Critter. Haha I’ve done TurboKick at some of the Beachbody Events, and that’s one of the reasons I was able to catch on to the moves real quick in TurboFire. Without that, I’d be lost!

  3. I’ve been looking for something new for a while and decided, reluctantly, to try TurboFire as well. I’ve been doing it for two weeks and I’m pleasantly surprised. Today I’m starting doubles with TurboFire as all the cardio and P90X/1 on 1 as the strength routines. My question to you, Josh, is when you double up workouts which do you do in the morning and which later in the day?

@Critter: Have you tried the “New to class” option on the TurboFire discs? Doing that the first few times really helped me figure out how the moves work and what order they’re in.

  4. @Mike. When I do Doubles, I like to do a resistance workout and then a cardio right after. I don’t like to do them at separate times.
